A major renovation of a Lake District hotel has now been completed. More work is expected to follw.
Frank Whittle Partnership, an architecture and design firm with master planning expertise, has managed the renovation of Borrowdale Hotel for one of the most recognizable hospitality groups in Cumbria.
As part of this project which began in 2020, five bedrooms at the hotel, part of the Lake District Hotels group, have been renovated completely.
Four bedrooms will be remodeled in the next phase. The Borrowdale’s ground-floor refurbishment by FWP is also scheduled to begin later in the year.
Kate Simmons, a senior interior designer at FWP, says that the connection to water and nature-inspired the Borrowdale Hotel’s stylishly refurbished rooms.
She stated that the Borrowdale Hotel’s schemes were “aesthetically innovative with luxurious and enduringly comforting designs.”
“Our goal is to create something modern and yet cozy. We’ve included various custom features in the rooms, including 3D wall paneling.
We are always open to new ideas for each bedroom we makeover. If possible, we don’t want to reuse fabrics or furniture. This helps keep the designs modern and fresh.
Over the past decade, FWP has been involved in several upgrades for Lake District Hotels. The Graves family owns these hotels. They provide modern bedrooms and unique public spaces.
It has also worked on hotels such as the Skiddaw Hotel, Keswick, and the Inn on the Lake in Glenridding.
Kate stated, “We constantly get inspired from what’s around us, and every project that we have delivered to Lake District Hotels has been unique. The hotels are unique and high quality and the designs aim to improve the experience and offer guests.
“Our goal is to ensure that natural light and bedroom space are used to maximum effect so that guests can have accommodation that is both comfortable and relaxing.”
She said, “Sustainability has been another area that we have concentrated on, and this includes using as many UK-based manufacturers as possible.”
FWP has offices in London, Manchester, and Preston and has a lot of experience in the tourism and hospitality sector.
The architect on the current project is to deliver Sands Venue Resort in Blackpool, which will be the first five-star hotel.
FWP works with Walker & Williams on North West aparthotel development. No.10 Preston and Winkley Square Hotel in Preston are two examples of projects that FWP has delivered.
The second phase of The Hotel Chester, a five-star FWP-designed hotel, has begun. The second phase will transform a former pub into a modern restaurant, and provide additional accommodation for the city-center aparthotel. It opened its doors last April.
FWP was responsible for restoring the adjoining main building, which dates back to 1782, and its transformation into a PS4.6m luxury boutique hotel.
The family-run practice is currently involved in the redevelopment and renovation of Ormskirk’s former magistrate’s court.
